Know Your Number is a free, static, educational tool. This page explains what data is (and isn't) collected when you use it.
The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Your slider inputs and results are computed on your device. If you use the "copy link" or "share" feature, your chosen values are encoded directly into the URL itself (visible in your address bar) so the link can recreate your scenario for whoever opens it.
For every visit, we record a single anonymous entry on our own servers so we can count how many people use the tool and show a live map of roughly where visitors are. This entry contains no persistent identifier and is not linked across your visits or to your identity. It includes:
Because there is no stored identifier, this cannot follow you around or build a profile. It does not include anything you type into the calculator.
The first time you visit, we ask whether you're OK with more detailed, privacy-friendly usage logging. Only if you choose "OK" do we additionally record how you use the tool, including the values you set in the calculator (for example product type and slider positions), presets, toggles, shares, and downloads, grouped under a random identifier stored in your browser so repeat visits can be counted together. That identifier is random. It is not your name, email, or account, and we do not try to work out who you are. If you choose "No thanks," none of this detailed logging happens (the anonymous visit count above still applies).
We do not sell any of this data, and we do not share it with data brokers. It is used only by us, to run and improve this tool, and may inform aggregate, anonymized reporting.
Your choice, and how to change it: the detailed logging only runs after you select "OK." To withdraw consent later, clear this site's data in your browser settings, and you will be asked again, or simply choose "No thanks."
